Privacy Policy

The short version

CumLaude stores your coursework so your study plan works across your devices. That is the only reason we hold anything.

No advertising, no analytics, no third-party trackers. There are none in the app.
We do not sell or share your data with anyone, for any purpose.
Your lecture slides never leave your phone. PowerPoint and PDF files you add are read on the device and practice questions are written there; the file and its text are not uploaded.
You can delete everything yourself, from inside the app, at any time.

What we store, and why

What	Why
Email & password	To create your account and sign you in. Passwords are hashed — we never see them.
Your coursework	Courses, exams, dates, topics and difficulty, goals, grades you enter, assignments, flashcards, practice decks, brain-dumps, focus sessions and your weekly time budget. This is what the study plan is built from, and what syncs between your devices.
Study group info	If you create or join a group: your chosen display name, your readiness percentage, and the group's name, colour, invite code and meeting link — so your group can see the readiness board.
Room messages	Messages you send in a group room, so the group can read them.
Shared calendar entries	Only the deadlines and study sessions you explicitly choose to share with a group.
Blocks & reports	If you block or report someone, we keep that record so the block holds and the report can be reviewed.

What we never collect

No location, no contacts, no photos, no microphone or camera access, no advertising identifier, no browsing or usage analytics, and no behavioural profile. The app contains no advertising or analytics software of any kind.

Who can see your data

Your coursework and grades are private to your account. Nobody else can read them — database rules enforce this per user, not just the app's screens.
Inside a study group, members you joined with see only what the group is for: your display name, your readiness percentage, your room messages, and any deadlines you chose to share. They never see your grades, your topics or your plan.
Groups are invite-only. There is no public directory and no way to find you by name or email.

Where it is stored

Account and study data are stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, who process it solely on our instructions. A copy is also kept on your own device so the app keeps working offline and nothing is lost if the network drops. Data is encrypted in transit.

Your choices

Export — Settings → Export my data gives you a copy of everything.
Delete — Settings → Delete account removes your account and your data immediately and permanently. There is no waiting period and no recovery, so export first if you want a copy.
Leave a group at any time; your readiness and shared deadlines go with you. Messages already sent remain visible to that group.
Notifications are generated on your device and can be turned off in Settings or in iOS Settings.

How long we keep it

Until you delete it. We do not keep backups of deleted accounts.

Children

CumLaude is made for university and professional students and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will update this page and change the date above.
